Roland Hearts of Palm are the prized edible hearts of young palm trees. They have a silky texture and a delicate flavor resembling that of an artichoke. Most commonly they are chilled and served in salad and appetizer dishes. They may be heated or deep-fried. Because of their citric acid content, Hearts of Palm should be rinsed in cold water before using. Makes an excellent addition to a summer salad with a vinaigrette dressing. Hearts Palm Salad. Hearts of palm do not contain cholesterol.

Hearts of Palm are a Central/South American vegetable, with a delicate taste similar to artichokes/asparagus: - they come from a variety of a young Pejibaye tree, a small tree native to the American tropics and a look-a-like to the African Palm tree when fully grown. The plant is self-sufficient, and grows in the wilds of the tropical jungles, and on commercial plantations.

Hearts of Palm contain no palm oil, and they are actually a good health food. Hearts of Palm are the center cord of the young palm tree, have no cholesterol, and contain very low calories.

Corazones de Palmito enlatado Roland de 28 oz

Los cortes y puntas de palmitos tiene una textura firme. Son una buena adición a una ensalada veraniega con vinagreta. Corazon de Palmito.

El palmito es considerado como un producto gourmet; es muy poco conocido y salvo en el caso de Francia, en los otros países solamente se utiliza en ocasiones muy especiales. Tradicionalmente Brasil ha sido el país exportador de palmito, aunque también es el mayor consumidor mundial.

Receta para 4 Personas


4 pzs. fondo de alcachofa limpio de bote o fresco
16 pzs espárragos verdes hervidos 4 minutos y enfriados con abundante agua con hielos
32 pzs corazón de palmito de lata
32 pzs jitomate cerezo
4 bastones o 120 gr. / 5oz cangrejo desmenuzado
2 cucharaditas de mayonesa
2 cucharaditas salsa de chile ancho Max's Black Gold


2 cucharaditas de mostaza dijon o mostaza Americana
1 limón verde grande
1/4 taza mitad/mitad de aceite de olivo y canolasal / pimienta para condimentar.

Manera de hacerse

Desmenuzar el cangrejo y revolverlo con mayonesa y salsa de chile ancho Max's Black Gold
Rellenar de esta preparación los fondos de alcachofa que ya están cocidos si son de bote.
Hervir agua en una cacerola con un poco de sal y agregar los espárragos lavados, hervir por 4 minutos, luego enfriar, con abundante agua y hielos, para conservar su fresco color verde.
Lavar los jitomatitos y cortar por mitad, abrir las latas de palmitos y drenar agua.

Manera de presentación:

Formar los cuatro platos abiertos sobre una mesa.
Colocar el fondo de alcachofa relleno de cangrejo al centro de cada plato.
Colocar alrededor los palmitos formando una casita, como si fueran palitos, hacer un cuadrado y colocar otro cuadrado encima, en total 8 palmitos por plato, colocar cuatro espárragos por plato alrededor de los palmitos extendiéndonos hacia afuera del plato, respetando los bordes, y decorar con los 4 tomates cerezo entre los espárragos.
Bañar al último con la vinagreta, la cual se mezcla la sal, mostaza, y limón bien batidos con la pimienta y al final se incorpora el aceite poco a poco, luego verter sobre los platos.
