Nescafe by Nestle

The Nescafe brand of instant coffee introduced by the Nestle Company can be traced back to the 1930s, when they were approached by the Brazilian government who asked the Nestle Company to come up with a way of making a quality cup of coffee simply by adding water, whilst retaining the coffee’s natural flavor. Based on its milk processing expertise, Nestle created soluble coffee thus helping thousands of Brazilian farmers avoid crop waste. Faithful to its heritage, Nestle continues supporting and working with farmers all around the world.

After seven years of research on April 1st, 1938, Nestle’s leader powdered coffee was first introduced in Switzerland, The rest of the world followed soon after. The new product was named Nescafe which is a blend of the words Nestle and Café.

Nescafe became the staple beverage of the US armed forces during World War II and became very popular. For many generations all over the world, Nescafe has become the coffee by excellence.

In the 1950’s coffee was the latest trend and you wanted to find your favorite blend no matter where you went, therefore Nescafe had a great amount of fans. Nestle extended its innovation by offering the very first freeze-dried soluble coffee with the launch of Gold Blend in 1965. The Nescafe name was used on Nestle’s products in the US up to the 1960s; later Nestle would introduce a new brand of coffee in the United States named “Taster’s Choice” which took Nescafe’s place for many years. In addition to the US, Taster’s Choice was introduced into Canada as well. It’s sold as a separate product, higher priced and branded as superior to Nescafe.

A few years later, in 1994 Nescafe’s technology evolved further to capture the full flavors and natural aromas from every single coffee bean called the “Full Aroma” process which made Nescafe’s unique quality and character even more extraordinary. The quality, aroma, flavor, natural goodness and convenience of Nescafe can be enjoyed today in different formats by consumers around the world.

The Nestle Company reintroduced the Nescafe brand in the US in 2003. Known as Nescafe Taster’s Choice, it is sold in US supermarkets in both plastic and glass packaging. Four years later, Nescafé launched the new coffee machine system "Dolce Gusto" ("sweet taste" in Italian) in 2006. This new system allows consumers to make various styles of coffees such as (Latte Macchiato, Cappuccino, Lungo, Espresso, etc.) as well as hot chocolate and cold drinks with the machine. The machines are now sold in more than 15 countries worldwide. Unlike other Nescafé products, most Dolce Gusto beverages use roasted and ground coffee, instead of instant coffee.
