In large frying pan, brown rice in vegetable oil with garlic and onion for one minute or until lightly browned. Add EL PATO and tomato sauce, 1 1/2 to 2 cups of water, season to taste. Bring to boil, cover pan and cook on low for 25 minutes or until rice is done.
I made it but it kept on running out of liquid. I would recommend at least a cup and a half to 2 cups of water. Half an onion would be fine. Just make sure you dice it up small. Green onions could also work on this.

I found something else to do with El Pato.
Just like uptown!

I just made this and my family loved it because it was just like the rice we get at our favorite Mexican restaurant. I fried the rice and about a half cup of minced onion in 2 tablespoons oil, then added half the can (4oz) of the hot El Pato sauce and 1 and 1/2 cups water ( I didn't have any plain tomato sauce.) Delicious!
How much onion?

In the directions you refer to onion, but onion is not listed as part of the ingredients. Please let us know the recommended amount of onion and should it be diced, or chopped? Thank You!
