Chicken Tinga Recipe

Chicken Tinga, a classic shredded chicken taco or tostada filling prepared with sliced onions and a tomato chipotle sauce is a full-flavored crowd pleaser. It has a smoky flavor with just enough heat from the chipotle. Tinga is served throughout Mexico.

Ingredients:

1 Fully Cooked Shredded Chicken Breast 10.57 Oz Pouch
1/2 Onion in slices
1 Garlic Clove
2 laurel leaves
2 Red Tomatoes diced
1/4 Can of Chipotle Pepper 7 oz1 Tablespoon of Chicken Bouillon
1 Tablespoon of oregano coarse
1/4 Tablespoon of Thyme coarse

Optional Toppings:

Cabbage/lettuce, shredded, Avocado, chopped Tomatoes, dicedCilantro, chopped, Lime wedges.

Directions:

Blend the red tomato, onion, garlic, laurel, chipotle pepper, chicken bouillon, oregano and thyme with a cup of water.

Heat the blended sauce in a pot until it boils.

Heat the pouch in the microwave for 2 minutes.

In a deep bowl place the Shredded Chicken Breast and cover it with the sauce.

Serve the Chicken Tinga in warmed tortillas. Top with creamy salsa and desired toppings, such as shredded cabbage or lettuce, chopped avocado, tomatoes and fresh cilantro, and lime wedges.
