Chile Tepin by Ranchero is one of the hottest and smallest chili peppers. Common names for Chile Tepin include chiltepin, chiltepe, and chiletepin. The Chile Tepin peppers are also nicknamed "bird's eye" peppers, rank high in heat level. Chile enthusiasts argue that Chile Tepin is hotter than the Red Savina habanero or Habanero pepper. Arrebatado (rapid or violent) is what the heat of the Chile Tepin is called in Mexico because, while the heat is intense, it does not last very long. Chile Tepin is similar to Chile Piquin, they are both very popular and eaten either fresh or dried. The hottest part of Chile tepin are the seeds and ribs. By removing some or all of the seeds or ribs will reduce the heat of the chili.
