Hierve una taza de flores de jamaica (hibisco) en un litro de agua, deja que hierva a fuego lento y enfría en el refrigerador. Cuela la infusión y añade azúcar al gusto o más agua si está muy fuerte.
AGUA DE JAMAICA (Flores de Hibisco)
Las flores de hibisco secas, conocidas en México como jamaica (pronunciado "ja-ma-ika", no como el nombre del país caribeño), se encuentran desde hace tiempo en tiendas naturistas de Estados Unidos para preparar un té rico en vitamina C. Con el auge de la gastronomía mexicana, las flores de hibisco se venden en bolsitas. Esta bebida es especialmente beneficiosa para quienes tienden a retener líquidos, ya sea de forma temporal o permanente: es un diurético suave y completamente natural.
Hibisco - Hibiscus sabdariffa. El hibisco también se conoce como rosella (rosa de Jamaica, acedera jamaicana, karkadé). Es bueno para aliviar los resfriados, descongestionar la nariz, eliminar la mucosidad, como astringente, para el buen funcionamiento de los riñones, para la digestión, como tónico, diurético y para bajar la fiebre. Algunas personas lo llaman "el otro arándano" o simplemente hibisco.
