Recipe to make 16 Tortillas with Blue Corn Instant Masa
Ingredients:
2 cups of Maseca 1 1/4 cup of water
Preparation Instructions
Combine 2 cups of MASECA Blue Corn Masa Flour with 1 ¼ cups of water. Mix well for about 2 minutes until a soft dough forms. If the dough feels dry, add small amounts of water (one teaspoon at a time) until the desired consistency is reached.
Divide the dough into 16 equal portions, forming small balls of about 1 oz each. Cover the dough balls with a damp cloth to keep them soft and moist.
Line a tortilla press with two sheets of thick plastic. Place each dough ball between the plastic sheets and press until the tortilla reaches about 5 inches in diameter.
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Carefully remove the tortilla from the plastic and place it on the hot surface. Cook each tortilla for about 30 seconds per side, turning it three times until fully cooked.
Keep the cooked blue corn tortillas wrapped in a cloth napkin to maintain warmth and softness.
To make tostadas: allow the tortilla to cool completely before frying in oil.
Yield: Makes approximately 16 tortillas.
