NOPALITOS O NOPALES
Los nopalitos, o nopal, son una vista típica en el paisaje mexicano. No es extraño que se abra camino en la gastronomía local. El uso de nopalitos tiene su origen en la observancia católica romana de servir platillos sin carne durante la Cuaresma; ahora son parte de la cocina diaria. Las pencas, o paletas tiernas, de la planta (llamada "prickly pear" en los EE. UU.) se comen como verdura en México. Los mejores brotes jóvenes se envasan frescos, encurtidos o conservados. En rodajas para mayor comodidad, su uso se presta a una variedad de platillos, como la tradicional ensalada o sopa de nopalitos. Combinados con mariscos, omelets, quiches y guisos, los nopalitos añaden un toque delicioso y auténtico.
Se cree que una de las propiedades de los nopalitos (cactus nopal) es la de ser un medicamento natural para la diabetes y el colesterol, y también se utiliza en el tratamiento de la obesidad, trastornos gastrointestinales, enfermedades de la piel e infecciones virales.

Very good packaging received in great shape. This was a replacement for one I bought from you about a year or two ago that broke during our recent move. So I know good packaging is very important!
So easy to start using because it's pre-cured (think that's what it's called) it's so easy to start using right away.
The Olla makes a BIG difference with the taste of the beans! I also have the smaller version I use to make Cafe De Olla.
My next purchase will be a clay Comal for the tortillas.
