The Tamarind Paste. Mexichef has taken the fruit pulp from the tropical Tamarind tree pods and processed it into a paste, highlighted by a sweet and sour flavor.

  • Concoct margaritas, daiquiris and smoothies.
  • Prepare Tamarind marinated chicken, pork loin or seafood kabobs.
The Tamarind is a plant from the leguminous family, very appreciated by the taste from its fruit. Scientific name is Tamarindus indica. The Tamarind tree measures up to 82 Feet tall, is a slow growing plant but lives longer, some trees remain productive for more than 150 years. The Tamarind pod measures from 3" to 6" long and 1" across and contains from 3 to 10 seeds. Very valuable around the world as an ingredient to create different dishes and beverages. Also used to spice up salsas. Grown in India, Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia, Florida, Central America and Mexico

La vaina del tamarindo mide de 7 a 15 cms. y 2 cms. de ancho y contiene de 3 a 10 semillas. De gran valor alrededor del mundo como ingrediente para elaborar diferentes platillos y bebidas. También se utiliza para darle más sabor a las salsas. Se cultiva en la India, África, Sureste de Asia, Australia, Florida, América Central y México.
